Artist and teacher, Meredith Milstead, spent two weeks on the Hill last July and August, as an invited guest. You can learn more about her at www.meredithmilstead.com. See more of her Tumamoc work on this site here.
This is a rare and insightful view from a personal art journal, and it didn’t take unscrupulous journalists from “The News of the World” to get it. I am posting Meredith’s journal here with as little editing as possible because it is such a good example of how an artist might approach a new place and explore it without any preconceived plan or agenda.
The results would be different for each person, of course, but it is clear that such a mission brings back data from both the external landscape and that of the artist’s mind. Many artists do not write publicly about their process, so I thank Meredith for sharing this.
