Last Saturday morning’s field sketching session was both a quiet drawing meditation and a quiet social event.? The artists are all working together, but in off in different parts of the landscape. To be honest, I need both those things: the undisturbed solitude while out in the open air, drawing, and the interaction and encouragement from others to keep at the practice of field-sketching. It’s not unlike a religion, except there are is no judgement and no dogma.
At noon, we showed what we each had done in a casual way, then went to the Baja Grill on Silverbell for a delicious lunch. A lot of ideas were discussed, including the possibility of a group show from these Tumamoc sessions at the Drawing Studio gallery downtown.
